A plethora of high-end smartphones are coming in Q1 2016

Once again, it's that time of the year when we all get excited about the upcoming flagships that companies like the Samsung, LG, HTC, and Huawei are throwing at us.

However, this year the battle for supremacy seems fiercer than ever. After LG defiantly announced that it was ready to take on Samsung and scheduled the G5 official unveiling on the same day as Galaxy S7, things started to heat up.

But this year is also special because for the first time in its history the Chinese company Xiaomi has decided to launch its flagship smartphone in Europe, at the Mobile World Congress, and it won't be the only one.

Another Chinese handset maker, Gionee, has confirmed its Elife S8 will be revealed on February 22 at the same trade fair in Barcelona, Spain.

So, which of these new flagships are you cheering for? Is it the Samsung Galaxy S7 which promises microSD card slot, water resistance, and a slightly better battery?

Or perhaps the LG G5, which is likely to stand out from other flagships thanks to its dual-lens camera setup?

Some flagships might skip MWC 2016, but they'll come this spring for sure

Maybe you're more into the Chinese stuff and can't wait to get your hands on the Xiaomi Mi5, which is now rumored to pack a massive 5.7-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution (not the best combination, we know)?

There's also the strange case of Gionee Elife S8, which builds up as a great device, but are we going to ever see this one in Europe or North America?

I guess not, or at least not that soon, but here are some interesting bits of information about Gionee's flagship if you've never heard of it. First of all, its Quad HD display is said to beat Galaxy S6's ppi (pixel density).

The Elife S8 is rumored to boast a 24-megapixel rear camera and just 3GB of RAM, coupled with a MediaTek 6795 chipset. Would that be enough to make you cheer for it?

And let's not forget that HTC plans to launch its One M10 this spring as well, it's just that it won't be showcased at MWC. But from what we've been hearing, the smartphone will include an interesting 12-UltraPixel rear camera and a 5.1-inch Quad HD display.

How about Huawei's P9 that packs one of the most powerful chipsets on the market, the Kirin 950? This one may not be part of Huawei's launch events at MWC 2016, but it will surely be unveiled in Q1, and judging by the latest hearsay, it should blow our mind.

Even if previous rumors claiming Huawei P9 might be world's first smartphone to pack 6GB RAM proved to be inaccurate, the device still tops multi-core benchmark scores.

Did we forget any flagship that you might be excited for? Share your pick with us in the comments section and let us know why you're rooting for that particular flagship.
