LG announced an MWC 2016 launch event on February 21 but did not confirm which device it plans to unveil later this month.

Although rumors suggested that the South Korean company would, in fact, announce its flagship smartphone, the LG G5; actual proof wasn't available until recently.

Earlier today, the handset maker published another invitation that confirms February 21 will be the “LG G5 Day.” If you had any doubt that the G5 would be unveiled later this month at MWC 2016, then this invitation should put them to rest.

LG hinted last month that, unlike previous years, it would announce its flagship smartphone much earlier in 2016.

Also, the South Korean company plans to make the LG G5 available on the market just a couple of weeks after the smartphone is officially introduced.

LG claims that it's ready to take on Samsung at the high-end tier and the fact that the G5 will be announced on the same day as Galaxy S7 is proof that the handset maker isn't joking at all.

While we have some information about LG G5's hardware configuration coming from various sources, nothing has been confirmed yet.

Dual-camera setup, fingerprint sensor

The most important thing and one of the features that might set the LG G5 apart from other flagship smartphones launched in the first half of the year will be the dual-lens camera setup.

Rumor has it that the G5 will pack dual-cameras on the back side, which will come with advanced imaging technology and improved features.

Also, the smartphone might feature a full metal body, along with a large 5.6-inch display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

LG G5 is likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and, possibly, 32GB of internal memory.

A fingerprint sensor will be included as well, along with microSD card slot for memory expansion and fast charging.

We're looking forward to the LG G5's official unveiling since we're convinced the South Korean company has a few aces up its sleeve.
