One of the most anticipated Android smartphones coming in Q1 2016, Xiaomi Mi5, will be officially unveiled on February 24 at MWC (2016) trade fair. Another launch event has been confirmed for the same date in China, Xiaomi's strongest market.

Although Xiaomi and Qualcomm have both stated that the Mi5 will be one of the many flagship smartphones launched this year that will pack a Snapdragon 820 processor, other specs of the phone remain a mystery.

We've reported in the last couple of weeks about what Xiaomi might take into consideration for Mi5's hardware configuration, but none of the details has been confirmed yet.

The good news is that Xiaomi has just announced something related to its upcoming Mi5, which is meant to avoid the disappointment many fans might experience after the official reveal.

According to Xiaomi's co-founder Liwan Jiang, the Mi5 will not boast a Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution display.

He says that while Mi5 will include many technological advancements, like Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820, in some places, the smartphone will not be improving on the previous models.

Full HD displays are still good for flagship smartphones

One of these areas is the display, as Xiaomi Mi5 will come with a full HD (1080p) screen, and there won't be any upgraded versions that might pack a Quad HD screen instead.

Jiang has also stated that, unlike full HD (1080p) display, Quad HD screen requires much more energy consumption, and that the human eye's perception of the latter is not that high.

Xiaomi's official claims that full HD (1080p) screens benefit from lots of advanced technologies that still make them great for flagship smartphones.

We also know the Mi5 will come with NFC (Near Field Communication) and dual-SIM support thanks to a screenshot leaked online last week.

No other information on the smartphone has been confirmed by Xiaomi, but rumor has it that the handset will include either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and a 3,600 mAh battery with fast charging technology.

The Mi5 will be Xiaomi's first smartphone to ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box. Also, MIUI 7 will run on top of Marshmallow as well.
