Mobile phone operator Verizon Wireless announced recently newly performed expansions of its 3G network in Meriden, Connecticut. According to the company, customers in New Haven County can now enjoy enhanced 3G coverage inside the Westfield Meriden Shopping Center, offering them the possibility to benefit from better services, including wireless voice, 3G multimedia and Internet access.

The wireless carrier also states that the new 3G expansion is part of its continuous investment in the coverage of its airwaves, which rises to $2.6 billion into the New England network since 2000. The newly announced enhancement of the network should offer a great deal of advantages to customers, especially to the shoppers and retailers in Westfield Meriden.

Big Red notes that the new investment should result in “expanded 3G data coverage inside the Westfield Meriden Shopping Center allows customers using notebook computers or smartphones the ability to: - Download and use cool apps, from mobile social networking portals to streaming radio - Browse the web to keep up with news, sports, stock quotes, Hollywood gossip and more at faster speeds - Stream must-see video - Share emails with friends, family and co-workers that include picture and video attachments - Download and play vivid, rousing 3D games - Quickly download and play music favorites from Top 40 to Classical - Work on-the-go with rapid file sharing.”

According to Verizon Wireless, the continuous enhancements it is making to its 3G network around the country are meant to offer it the possibility to meet the increasing demand for wireless services, including Internet access and more. The carrier provides its users with a series of such services, including Mobile Broadband, V CAST: Video and Music, V Cast Music with Rhapsody and more, and they should provide enhanced experience to its customers through network expansions and capacity boosts.

Verizon Wireless’ 3G network coverage across New England is unparalleled,” said Director for Network System Performance for Verizon Wireless, Richard Enright. “We’ve invested billions of dollars into New England believing that even the most sophisticated cell phone is only as good as the network it runs on. Our continued aggressive network investments provide customers with a 3G network advantage at home and on vacation.”
