Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless is reportedly getting ready to launch new handsets on its airwaves in the near future, and the rumor has it that two of the upcoming devices will come from the South Korean maker LG Electronics. Moreover, it seems that these handsets are expected to run under Google's Android operating system, expanding this way the Android offer available via Big Red.

According to the guys over at androidrelease, it shouldn't be too long before the two mobile phones bring Android on Verizon's airwaves. They are said to be on their way to the carrier before April is here, at least this is what an unnamed source reports. There are not too many details available on the new phones as of yet, but there are great chances that LG and Verizon will unveil more details on them at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Among the specs that are known at the moment on the two LG Android phones headed for Verizon, we can count a touchscreen candybar for one of them with full touch capabilities as the HTC DROID Eris, it seems, and a full QWERTY keyboard with the other, coupled with an LG EnV Touch form factor. There are great chances that the second device will actually resemble the LG GW620, which is already available on the market, but nothing is certain for the time being.

Ever since launching the Motorola DROID and the HTC DROID ERIS on its network, Verizon has showed a focus on adding more Android-based mobile phones to its lineup, and one of these phones should be the Motorola DEVOUR, which was unveiled officially yesterday. With a nice range of other LG devices already available via Big Red, it makes sense that the two companies would collaborate on launching Android phones too, but we'll still have to wait for that official confirmation before nailing this down. Hopefully, more info on the handsets will arrive before the end of this month, so stay tuned.
