The multiplayer beta stage for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is set to go public today, with Naughty Dog, its developer, and Sony, its publisher, letting every PlayStation Network user download the beta and jump into the online action.

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is set to appear later this year with an even more detailed story, while its multiplayer and cooperative modes are going to be overhauled for increased fidelity as opposed to the ones in the second title.

In order to further polish the online experience, Naughty Dog and Sony have released a special Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta stage last week, exclusive to all subscribers of the premium PlayStation Plus service.

Now, after one week of exclusivity, the Uncharted 3 beta is going public later today, in North America, and tomorrow, in Europe, so that every PlayStation Network user can jump into the online action and try out some of the modes and some of the maps that will be included in Uncharted 3 when it is released.

What's more, Naughty Dog has also updated the game types and maps that can be experienced this week, with players being able to engage in Team Deathmatch, Free for All, Team Objective, Hardcore, and Co-Op Hunter, on two different maps: Airstrip and Chateau.

Each week, the development studio will be updating the available multiplayer modes and maps, in order to try them all out and collect accurate feedback from players.

Uncharted 3's multiplayer beta had a rocky start, with many players citing frequent freezes and glitches that affected their game or console, usually resulting in them having to manually restart the device.

Naughty Dog and Sony quickly released a patch for the beta, and things seem to be going smoothly, so it's interesting to see just how things will go once every PSN user can engage in online matches later today.
