Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception multiplayer beta is set to kick off today, June 28, but just for those who have PlayStation Plus memberships or who bought special editions of Infamous 2, while regular PlayStation 3 users will be able to jump into the action next week, on July 4.

Uncharted 3 is set to be one of the biggest games to appear later this year, as the next installment in the PlayStation 3 exclusive action adventure series will once again see developer Naughty Dog push the Sony console to its limits.

Multiplayer will also be improved with the upcoming game, so the studio has decided to run a special online beta stage which allows all PS3 users to try out the experience and share feedback with the development team.

We've already heard quite a lot of details about the Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta stage, and today is the day when Naughty Dog, together with Sony, let players, at least PlayStation Plus members or Infamous 2 buyers, access this testing phase.

Regular users will be able to access the multiplayer beta stage next week, starting on July 4, and ends for all users on July 13.

The beta is set to go live on the PlayStation Store at 2pm PST and will be available in all regions, including Korea, but excluding Japan or other Asian territories where the PlayStation Store is still not operational.

The three weeks of play time sees the beta rotate game modes and maps, so between June 28 and July 4, players can engage in Team Deathmatch, Plunder, Three Team Deathmatch, Co-op Arena modes on the Airstrip and Chateau maps, between July 4 and July 8, in Team Deathmatch, Free For All, Team Objective, Co-op Hunter, on the same maps, and between July 9 and July 13, in Team Deathmatch, Three Team Deathmatch, Co-op Adventure, on the Airstrip and Yemen levels.

Players can even activate special options like Stereoscopic 3D or splitscreen functionality, but not both at the same time.

Those who participate in the beta will also get some interesting rewards, which have been highlighted by Naughty Dog below, when the final version of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception appears on November 1.
