Naughty Dog, the developer, and Sony, the publisher, have launched the beta stage for their upcoming mix of adventure and action Uncharted 3, but quite a lot of players that are trying to take part in it have reported having connection issues when trying to access it.

The most popular problems include getting a “Connecting” phase that never disappears and receiving the “Error initializing session manager” message.

Naughty Dog has said it is aware of the problems and that it is aiming to solve the problems as soon as possible.

The company has not said how much of the beta player base is affected by connection problems.

Arne Meyer, who is a community strategist working at Naughty Dog, has commented on the PlayStation Blog entry about the Uncharted 3 beta that, “A lot of people hitting our servers is precisely what one of the things we're looking forward to as part of this Beta. We believe we've got a setup that will handle a huge amount of traffic, but I know we definitely want to test server load.”

At the moment the Uncharted 3 beta is open to those who have secured a beta code for the game and for those who have picked up the recent Infamous 2, the superhero game from Sucker Punch.

All those who have the free month of PlayStation Plus that Sony has offered as part of the Welcome Back package can also take part.

This means that there's a big number of potential players and both Naughty Dog and Sony might have misjudged the interest in the Uncharted 3 beta.

The beta stage opens up to all those interested on July 5.

Uncharted 3 will be launched exclusively on the PlayStation 3 from Sony on November 1 of this year and the beta is specifically designed to test the multiplayer element of the game, which will be one of the main evolutions in this installment.
