Symbian S60 touch devices owners have now yet another reason to rejoice, as there is a new application available for them straight from the Nokia Beta Labs, namely Nokia Image Exchange. The developing team announced back in November that they were thinking about delivering a touch-enabled version of the application, and now that solution is available for download.

“Due to popular demand, we're releasing an early beta version of the Nokia Image Exchange mobile client for S60 touch devices. At the moment, this version has limited functionality and is still in need of UI polishing, but we wanted to get it in your hands for early testing. As usual, let us know about bugs, suggestions, and reviews in the forum,” a post on Nokia Beta Labs blog states.

The new early beta flavor of Nokia Image Exchange for S60 touchscreen phones also comes with new functionality, including an option to upload images to Facebook. The feature can be found under the Send options, yet one should note that it is available only if the “image has been uploaded and published as Facebook requires access to it.” For the time being, the option only works with one's own images, but it is bound for future updates and should also come to the non-touch version of the application.

The developing team delivered a video as well that shows some of the features the new solution comes with. “As mentioned, some features are not supported via the touch client. Most notably these include grid views via main menu, time based views and zooming in general. There is also no accelerometer support in this version of the touch UI client,” the blog post reveals.

For now, the new Nokia Image Exchange for S60 touch is already available for download and has been tested on Nokia 5530, 5800 Xpress Music, N97 and X6. Those who own non-touch S60 handsets or S40 devices can also give it a try, as it is available via the Ovi Store. Since the touch flavor is in early beta, the older versions are more mature, the Nokia Beta Labs blog notes.
