Philips is reported to be preparing the launch of a new clamshell, namely the Xenium X700, which comes only a few days after the company was announced to come to the market with another similar device, the Philips Xenium X530.

The new handset comes around sporting GPRS and EDGE connectivity for data transfers, yet it doesn't feature support for 3G, which seems to be rather common among the company's devices. In addition, those who will acquire the device will also be provided with quad-band GSM connectivity. Bluetooth 2.0 is also present with this mobile phone.

Although it doesn't include 3G capabilities, the new Xenium X700 comes with a rather powerful battery included in the package, and this is one of the greatest things it has to offer. Said battery is able to keep the device in standby for about 720 hours, which is about a month, while also being able to deliver up to 450 minutes of talk time.

In addition, the specification list of the new mobile phone shows it as featuring a 2.4-inch TFT internal display that is able to provide a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, as well as support for 262K colors, coupled with an external 2.0-inch TFT QVGA display. When it comes to multimedia features, the device sports a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper, while also including Music / video player and FM radio with RDS.

Philips Xenium X700 reportedly measures 103 x 54 x 15 mm. The new handset is expected to become available on select markets around the world, including China and some European countries like Russia, Romania and Turkey. The mobile phone is expected to retail for around $220 (€170). For the time being, an exact launch time frame for the device hasn't been made public.
