On Bharti Airtel's airwaves

On Tuesday, leading smartphone maker HTC Corporation announced the launch of its HTC Smart handset in India, in collaboration with Qualcomm Incorporated and Bharti Airtel, one of Asia’s leading integrated telecoms service providers. The new device arrives on the market as an easy-to-use and affordable handset and is meant to bring HTC's Sense experience to the masses.

The HTC Smart comes with cutting-edge features, while being powered by the Qualcomm Brew Mobile Platform operating system. The handset includes a 2.8-inch TFT-LCD touchscreen display that boasts a QVGA resolution, as well as a 3.0-megapixel photo snapper with fixed focus and flashlight, and also sports a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, along with 3G connectivity options.

The HTC Sense solution packed inside Smart is meant to put people in the center by making the handset work in a simpler and more natural way. The solution revolves around three main principles, Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected, and enables users customize the experience they receive from their mobile phone. It also includes HTC Friend Stream, an app that streams social networking communications from Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr, making it easier for users to see what their friends are doing or the content they share.

The HTC Smart is set to become available in India via Airtel in top 30 cities across the country. The handset will sport a price tag of Rs. 9,990.00 and will be put on sale via all authorized HTC resellers too.
