Opera Software and Qualcomm Incorporated announced today a partnership through which the Opera Mobile 10 and Opera Mini 5 browsers will be pre-incorporated with Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform (Brew MP) operating system. According to the two companies, their joint efforts will result in offering Opera browsers on Brew MP devices, something that will help the operating system in gaining momentum. Moreover, the duo also revealed that the Opera browsers would be demonstrated on the Brew MP operating system at the CTIA Wireless 2010 event. [admark=1]

Opera has a strong track record of delivering a rich and compelling experience on handheld devices, and we are pleased to now be offering an easier way for handset manufacturers to deliver that experience on their Brew MP devices,” said Roy Satterthwaite, senior vice president, Americas, Opera Software. “We look forward to supporting the launch of Brew MP devices that feature our browsers.”

Qualcomm is working with a series of leading software providers around the world under its 3Pre program, for the optimization, pre-integration and distribution of various software solutions with the Brew MP operating system. According to the company, this program offers developers the possibility to distribute their applications before new handsets are launched, something that results in development time and costs. Multiple application categories are included in the 3Pre program, such as browsers, messaging, navigation and others, coming from various companies around the world.

“Qualcomm is streamlining the commercialization of Brew MP devices – and a broad range of innovative applications for those devices – by working closely with companies like Opera Software to pre-integrate key software solutions with our OS,” said Jason Kenagy, vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. “We are very excited about helping our device manufacturing customers more easily capitalize on the synergies that exist between the powerful capabilities of Opera’s browsers and the flexibility and robustness of our Brew MP operating system.”
