HTC Smart is the first handset the Taiwan-based mobile phone maker HTC Corporation hasn't launched on the market with Microsoft's Windows Mobile or Google's Android platform on board, and it seems that the device is set to start shipping by the end of March. Running under Qualcomm's BrewMP OS, the Smart is an affordable device that boasts all the capabilities of a smartphone, including HTC's Sense solution, and it is expected to soon become available for purchase in Europe and Asia.

According to a recent article on DigiTimes, HTC already started shipping the Smart to the Indian market, just to see how things go, and it seems that the phone will become available for purchase in the country for 10,000 rupee (US$220) unlocked, at least this is what industry sources noted. Moreover, the news site also states that HTC aims at pricing the Smart so as to put it on a competitive line against Samsung's Corby-series and LG's Cookie handsets.

HTC is reported to have already started to receive orders for the Smart from a series of wireless carriers around the world. Among them, we can count European carriers like Telefonica/O2, Telecom Italia, KPN of the Netherlands and Netcom of Norway. The phone is expected to prove successful not only due to the low price tag it should feature on the market, but also courtesy of its features and functionality.

The HTC Smart comes with a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, as well as with a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper, with 256MB of RAM and 256MB of ROM, a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space, Bluetooth connectivity, HSDPA, a 3.5mm headset jack, FM Radio and more. In addition to the appealing feature the Smart comes to the market with, the handset is also said to be benefiting from a great marketing budget, which reportedly rises up to $1 million, so that users will definitely be attracted towards it.
