Will come with HTC Sense on board

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation announced officially on Thursday its first handset running under Qualcomm’s Brew MP operating system, the HTC Smart. According to the company, the new smartphone is meant to offer enhanced ease-of-use and connectivity capabilities, sports its HTC Sense solution on board, and should land on the market in Europe and Asia.

The new HTC Smart comes with a friendly compact touch design and delivers a great user experience through the HTC Sense solution, which is based on three main principles: Make It Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected. At the same time, the solution provides appealing customization features, as well as a great way to stay connected with friends and family via phone, email or social networking sites.

“HTC Smart breaks new ground in delivering the powerful, in-demand smartphone features that consumers want on a more accessible device for global markets,” said Paul Jacobs, chief executive officer, Qualcomm Incorporated. “We are pleased to be supporting HTC as they utilize the capabilities of Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform open operating system to offer high-end capabilities and a compelling mobile user experience at mass-market price points.”

The specifications list of the device shows that it comes with a 300 MHz processor coupled with 256 MB of ROM and 256 MB of RAM, a 2.8-inch TFT-LCD touchscreen display with QVGA resolution, Bluetooth 2.0, HTC ExtUSB, a 3.0-megapixel photo snapper with flash, microSD memory card slot, and a media player with support for .aac, .amr, .qcp, .mid, .m4a, .mp3, .wma, .wav and .mp4, .3gp, .3g2, .m4v file formats.

The new phone also sports HSDPA/WCDMA (Europe/Asia: 2100 MHz) and Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) frequency support, and a 3.5 mm stereo audio jack, measures 104 x 55 x 12.8 mm ( 4.09 x 2.17 x 0.50 inches), weighs in at 108 grams ( 3.81 ounces), and includes a 1100 mAh battery that can offer up to 450 minutes of talk time or up to 450 hours of standby time. No details on when the phone will arrive on the market emerged.
