Leading developer and innovator of wireless technologies and services Qualcomm Incorporated announced today that its Brew Mobile Platform (Brew MP) continues to gain momentum among developers, operators and device manufacturers. According to the company, it has been already working closely with software providers for the pre-integration of various solutions into the Brew MP operating system, in an attempt to shorten the time to market of software solutions, while also offering lower manufacturing costs.

“Qualcomm is working more closely than ever before with an exceptionally vibrant community of innovative publishers and developers as Brew MP continues to gain traction in the industry as a flexible and powerful mobile operating system,” said Jason Kenagy, vice president of product marketing for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies. “We look forward to many more devices and applications reaching the market and bringing consumers the compelling, personalized mobile experience for which Brew is known.”

The Brew Mobile Platform is being delivered as a mobile operating system aimed at the mass market, Qualcomm notes, adding that the solution can provide smartphone functionality on various devices. The platform offers support for a wide range of handset capabilities, including touchscreen displays, multimedia features, window management, support for native application development, and more.

At the same time, the company notes that the Qualcomm 3Pre program is focused on a close collaboration with software providers for the optimization and pre-integration of their solutions so as to offer key software components with the Brew MP operating system. The program includes a wide range of applications from various software companies, such as messaging, navigation, browsing and more. Among the developers that are already taking advantage of the program, Qualcomm names Aplix, Arcsoft, Bitstream, Comviva, iSkoot and Scanbuy.

“We are excited about the fast growing Brew MP ecosystem and Jblend’s seamless integration with the platform,” said Arron Fang, executive vice president for Aplix Corp. “The combination of JBlend and BrewMP is an important cornerstone for application innovation, which facilitates flexibility for developers and also bridges the platform to a wide range of established, industry standard JSR (Java Specification Requests) API resources for future extensibility.
