The free Spring Update from Microsoft brings back nothing but goodies from the old Xbox days: no less than 300 games, available through a backwards compatibility fix, looking better than always because your Xbox 360 will run them at 720p and 1080i with anti-aliasing. The update will also allow you to play cross-platform between Xbox 360 and the original Xbox over Xbox Live, as Xbox Live's Major Nelson posts.

So, here's a selection of some of the old Xbox games you might want to play on your Xbox 360:

Avatar: The Last Airbender Army Men: Sarge's War Barbie Horse Adventures Wild Horse Rescue (just kidding with this one, but then again, you never know who's reading) Breakdown Burnout 3: Takedown Call of Duty: Finest Hour Call of Duty 2: Big Red One Call of Duty 3 Crash Bandicoot 5: Wrath of Cortex Commandos 2: Men of Courage Counter-Strike DOOM 3 Fable Fable: The Lost Chapters FIFA STREET Full Spectrum Warrior Guilty Gear Isuka Jet Set Radio Future Mech Assault 2 Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction Mortal Kombat: Armageddon Mortal Kombat Deception Oddworld Munch's Oddysee Panzer Dragoon Orta Phantom Dust Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Sengoku Warriors (but this one's going to be available only in Japan) Star Wars: Republic Commando Unreal Championship 2

Of course there are 270 more titles from which you can choose, but I couldn't post them all;I thus tried to make a fine selection of what I thought was worth playable. You don't have to take my word for it though, so go ahead and check out the whole list. I'm sure I've missed a few good ones that deserved mentioning. That's that. Oh, and another thing: now that the older games are making this huge comeback on all next-gen consoles, are we to believe that it's the end of the consoles as we know them? Don't laugh cause, I heard a while ago a not-so-famous game developer, but a developer nonetheless, saying that PCs are taking over and fast. Could he be right?
