Microsoft has come out officially and denied reports related to a security breach in Xbox Live or Bungie.net online gaming services. The Redmond Company's position is that the customers that are experiencing issues with their accounts are the only ones responsible for handing over their data to fraudsters. Microsoft's message to the people affected by various problems including hijacked accounts was to learn to better protect themselves against identity theft.

"Despite some recent reports and speculation, I want to reassure all of our 6 million Xbox Live members that we have looked into the situation and found no evidence of any compromise of the security of the Xbox Live Network or Bungie.net," a Microsoft representative stated.

A small part of the 6 million Xbox Live members have reported that their accounts have been hijacked and that their credit card data was used to purchase Microsoft Points. Following the reports, Microsoft revealed that it would investigate foul play.

"There have been a few isolated incidents where malicious users have been attempting to draw personal information from unsuspecting users and use it to gain access to their LIVE account. This is a good time to remind our members that they should never give out any of their personal information," Microsoft added.

The Redmond Company also underlined the importance of users protecting their personal information. Microsoft believes that precisely such information was used to hijack accounts and not a security glitch of the system. Some gamers are outraged at the fact that Microsoft has failed to take their complaints seriously or to solve their problems.
