The error can be fixed from the settings menu

Samsung has just kicked off the rollout of the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. However, for the time being, the update is only available in those countries where the South Korean company tested the build: China and UK.

After halting the rollout in China for half a day due to some bugs that have been uncovered after the update was released, Samsung resumed Android 7.0 Nougat deployment in both countries, so many Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge owners can already enjoy the benefits of the new OS.

The bad news is Samsung hasn't fixed all the issues brought by Android 7.0 Nougat. On the bright side, the issue that's affecting Galaxy S7 devices after the update can be easily fixed.

Many Galaxy S7 owners complain that their smartphone's display is switching to full HD (1080p) resolution after upgrading to Android 7.0 Nougat.

This seems to be a widespread problem that's not limited to the Galaxy S7, as some Galaxy S7 edge users have confirmed the issue.

If this happens to your phone as well, don't fret. There's an easy way to revert both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge display to Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. Simply head over to Settings, tap on the Menu and choose to switch back to Quad HD resolution.

It's also worth mentioning that once you set your phone back to Quad HD resolution, as it should be, the setting will remain even after the phone is rebooted, so there's no need to go through the same process if you restart it.

If you can't tell whether your Galaxy S7/S7 edge has reverted to full HD (1080p) resolution after updating to Android 7.0 Nougat, make sure to check that by going to Settings / Display menu.
