After almost a month of beta testing, Samsung promised to bring both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge to Android 7.0 Nougat sometime in January 2017.

True to its promise, the South Korean company started the rollout of the update a few days ago, but due to some unforeseen bugs, it had to halt the deployment in China earlier today.

A new report now claims that the update has been resumed and that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are now eligible for Android 7.0 Nougat upgrades in the UK and China.

According to SamMobile, the reason Samsung has chosen the UK and China as the first markets where the Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S7/S7 edge is to be rolled out, is the fact that these are the two countries where the update was beta tested last year.

It's unclear when exactly the rollout will expand to additional countries, but it will take at least a couple of days for Android 7.0 Nougat to propagate to all Galaxy S7/S7 edge devices in these two countries.

The official changelog mentions that Android 7.0 Nougat comes with more than 20 new features and improvements besides the standard enhancements offered by the new version of the operating system.

Among these new features, Samsung states that the update adds a new UX and various performance modes, as well as improved usability of the Notification feature and Quick settings button.

Improvements have been made to the Multi window usability, setting menu, and AOD feature, and Samsung pass feature has been added.

Samsung also confirmed that the update should bring “efficient space for installation of downloaded apps, improved speed of system upgrade and app installation.”

Keep in mind, though, that some apps that haven't been optimized for Android 7.0 Nougat might not work properly after upgrading to the latest version of the OS.
