Microsoft has announced that it will be launching a Modern Warfare 2 bundle when the game is released in about two months. The price of the package will be set at 400 dollars and players will likely queue up to get it when it is out.

The bundle that gamers will be able to pick up on November 10 will include a Modern Warfare 2 special console, fully black, a 250 GB hard drive compatible with it, two wireless controllers and a copy of the first person shooter. Considering the price, only the branded console makes the package interesting and it will be nice to see how the bundle will do in the marketplace given the limited amount of disposable revenue that gamers have during the recession.

Albert Penello, who is the senior marketing director at the Xbox division of Microsoft, told Gamasutra that “We actually get asked a lot to do this kind of stuff. This was a time when we had the idea and they had the idea. We approached them six to eight months ago with various thoughts about what we were going to do to market the game. It was a mutual meeting of the minds.”

He also added that Microsoft tries to only give the most successful titles the bundle treatment, saying that “We've done this with Halo in the past, so every once in a while when there's a great game, we try to do something cool.”

Of course, the move from Microsoft is also intended to make sure that when Modern Warfare 2 is released, the videogame sells as many copies as possible on the Xbox 360, with the aim being to be able to claim superiority for the console versus the PlayStation 3. To this end, the Redmond-based company has also announced that the downloadable content for the Activision and Infinity Ward shooter will arrive first on the Xbox 360 version.
