If it is necessary, it will be implemented

A multiplayer mode is critical for many games out there because it offers players more reasons to keep playing it and, for those who don't have a lot of money to invest, a great dose of entertainment in the long run, after the single player campaign is finished.

But it is a tricky thing for developers, as they never know what issues they will encounter or what players will do in order to exploit every glitch and problem that appears. That is why, in recent times, many game companies are conducting open beta stages of the multiplayer mode, both to attract the players and to eliminate all of the problems that they might encounter.

One of the upcoming games that will definitely leave a mark on the multiplayer gaming scene will be Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which hits the stores on November for all major platforms. Considering the fact that it will be one of the most highly anticipated titles of the end of the year, you can be sure that the development team is working around the clock to see that gamers will get a solid online experience.

That is why rumors about an open beta stage of Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer mode appeared in the last few weeks. The studio's community manager and director of communications, Robert Bowling, set things straight via a statement that he made yesterday. He revealed that the studio was heavily testing the online mode and, if need be, the latter would go into an open beta stage.

“We would never say something as definitive as 'No Beta Ever!' as that's simply not how we work,” Bowling said. “We'll do an internal beta, if we feel a public one is needed, we'll explore that route as well. Once the internal beta is completed, if for any reason we feel we didn't receive the feedback, address the issues, or have the result we expect, we would consider pushing forward with a public one, however at this point only an internal Closed Beta is planned.”

So there you have it Modern Warfare 2 fans, it looks like IW has things under control and hopefully it will polish out all of the creases in the game before it will ship it and everyone will be happy afterwards.
