What did I tell you? We're witnessing the DS frenzy today, yet another international software publisher is rolling out a title for Nintendo's handheld. This time we're talking about a puzzle-strategy title (the perfect genre for the DS if you ask me), featuring a modern soundtrack and an updated Tertris-like gameplay.

XIDER Games will be making its first venture into the Nintendo DS with the release of Luminator DS, the puxxle-strategy title that will banish your Rubik's Cube to the attic permanently, as the official press release reads. In this game, construction combos will be needed as the player aims to turn their building blocks into valuable points. There are 15 different soundtracks to quicken the pulse with music developing from a casual beat to a techno trance as the bricks fall faster. Players can even test their structural creativity on 16 different backgrounds at different difficulty levels, ensuring that gameplay experience is never the same.

Luminator DS also provides gamers with a constantly evolving challenge, featuring two difficulty levels in "normal mode" and three in "puzzle mode," plus music to add tension and enhance enjoyment. The game is said to be an addictive game that will test, tease and - if the player is good enough - eventually satisfy.

Luminator DS is the latest of XIDER's additions. The publisher is best known for popular PC titles such as Ankh: Heart of Osiris, the Bone episodes and Bad Mojo.

I'm not going to say that whoever stated that there are currently enough reasons to make anyone want a PSP was wrong, but if that's the case with Sony's handheld, then how do you reckon things are concerning the DS. I have always been a faithful fan of the PlayStation brand, and I will remain so, but I can't admit that ever since its launch, the DS has been kicking Sony's handheld's ass non-stop. Apparently, it's still at it.
