O3 Entertainment trying to salvage whatever they can from the shoot 'em up GameCube user base

If you're the lucky owner of a GameCube console from Nintendo, you can just forget about any new titles hitting it, or that retailers will even have older games on the stock. Of course, it's not the case with every retailer out there, just North American retailers.

"Radio Allergy for the Nintendo GameCube has been cancelled in North America," said Mike Pepe, marketing manager at O3 Entertainment, the small Santa Clara-Calif.-based publisher that was going to publish the game in the US, NextGeneration reports. "Due to the transition to new gaming platforms, retailers are no longer interested in stocking GameCube titles."

There you have it, just so you didn't think it was a lousy rumor or anything like that. But all is not lost. You see, even though Radio Allergy has been cancelled, it does stand a good chance that it will be ported to the Wii. Of course, it will need a face lift and some work with that control scheme. Who knows, maybe it'll be better: "Milestone is exploring options to bring this to North America as part of a future compilation on the Wii," Pepe added.

Pepe actually even speculated that the Wii's backwards compatibility combined with the established installed base for the GameCube would be a good opportunity for smaller publishers to target users of both consoles, as the reporting site found out from the man in January this year, during an interview. "There's still a large following for shmups [shoot 'em up games] on the GameCube," said Pepe at the time. "We've actually been prodded a lot by the fan base out there to put one out."

Well of course shoot 'em ups are the answer. What would you rather port from the GameCube? Not that the console isn't great and all, but are gamers supposed to just forget that there are 3 or 4 times better systems out there? I'm not giving any examples, so I don't seem like I'm favouring certain systems.

How long before Nintendo's GameCube dies totally? What, you don't honestly think it will do the same as the PS2 did for Sony, do you? I didn't think so.
