All free on specific monthly plans

Right on cue, mobile phone carrier Vodafone UK has made available for purchase three new handsets on its airwaves, including two smartphones running under Google's Android operating system, namely the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro, the LG Optimus, and one smartphone from Research In Motion, the Blackberry Pearl 3G (9105). All three devices were previously spotted on the carrier's coming soon page, and it seems that it finally decided it was high time to enable its users purchase one of these beauties.

Starting with the Android-based mobile phones, we should note that they are available for purchase from Vodafone UK for free upon the signing of a 24-month contract agreement on a £20 per month plan. Also included in the plan are 100 minutes, 500 texts and 500 MB of mobile data each month. As for the new Blackberry device, it was put on sale for free on a monthly contract starting at £25 per month, which includes 300 minutes and 500 MB for mobile data each month.

None of these mobile phones needs further presentation, but we'll take a moment to have a quick look at their specifications list, especially for those who might have missed previous reports on them. Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 mini pro comes with a sliding QWERTY complemented by a touchscreen display, a 600 MHz processor, a 5MP camera with LED flash, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g, Bluetooth, 128 MB internal memory and microSD card slot to expand it, a 930 mAh battery, and Android 1.6 on top of them all.

The second Android-based handset newly released by Vodafone UK, LG GT540 Optimus, sports a 3-inch touchscreen display that boasts a 320 x 480 pixel resolution, features support for HSDPA 7.2 Mb/s connectivity, as well as WiFi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP capabilities, a 3.15-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus and video recording, a 1500 mAh battery, and the same Android 1.6 OS version, all inside a device measuring 109 x 54.5 x 12.7 mm and weighing in at 115.5 grams.

The Blackberry Pearl 3G (9105) sports an alphanumeric keyboard, complemented by a 360 x 400 pixel screen, 624 MHz processor, 256 MB of internal memory, couple with a microSD memory card slot, support for HSDPA 3.6 Mb/s and HSUPA, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, 3.5 mm headset jack, GPS receiver, a 3.15 camera, and a 1150 mAh battery.
