A new smartphone from Canadian handset vendor Research In Motion is now available for purchase in the UK on the airwaves of T-Mobile UK, namely the BlackBerry Pearl 3G. Announced officially in late April, the new BlackBerry Pearl 3G is the smallest device in RIM's BlackBerry family, and is now on sale at T-Mobile for free on a monthly contract that starts at £25 per month (the £5 BlackBerry Mail Booster is also included in the deal).

The BlackBerry Pearl 3G was launched in two versions, namely a 9100 model that packs a 20-key condensed QWERTY keyboard, in addition to a 9105 model, boasting a 14-key traditional phone keyboard. The BlackBerry Pearl 9105 was put on sale at T-Mobile UK, which is described on the operator's website as a candybar device with a 12 digit keypad.

“If you love the good old 12 digit keypad but you'd also love a BlackBerry smartphone, you're going to love the BlackBerry Pearl 3G. Keep in touch with everything and everyone with BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) for instant real time messaging and the preloaded Facebook and Twitter widgets. Navigate easily around the screen with the trackpad and type the way you know with the 12 digit keypad,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

Although the smallest BlackBerry device on the market, the new BlackBerry Pearl 3G packs a nice range of features and capabilities. Among them, we can count Quad-band connectivity, GPRS, Bluetooth, built-in GPS receiver, a 3.2-megapixel photo snapper with flash and video recording capabilities, as well as a battery that can offer up to 5 hours of talk time or up to 312 hours of standby time. The handset measures 108 x 50 x 13mm and weighs in at 93 grams. Those would will purchase it should benefit from appealing messaging features, including MMS, email, BlackBerry Mail or BlackBerry Messenger capabilities.
