South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is set to update the high-end Android-based Samsung Galaxy S device to the latest version of Google's operating system in the near future, and a few more info on how the two would go along together have recently surfaced. A leaked Android 2.2 Froyo ROM for Galaxy S was spotted at large not too long ago, followed by the video embedded below, which offers a detailed view of how the device performs when updated.

One thing that is certain is that the Android 2.2 Froyo update is expected to offer expanded features on Galaxy S, as well as on other high-end Android phones out there. Unfortunately, the leaked ROM does not include all that it should have, though the final solution should pack all the expected features. Already one of the most popular devices in certain markets, the Galaxy S is set to taste Froyo in some markets starting with August, while others should enjoy it in September, just as Samsung announced. The video below emerged on the Internet courtesy of hdblog.it.

In the meantime, we should have a look at the manner in which Samsung plans on promoting its handset on the United States market. The company announced a while ago that all major carriers in the country should receive the device, and we also had the chance to take a look at some video ads with those units, but the new ad is different than the previous ones (which were basically one and the same clip, with changed colors and brandings).

The Galaxy S was released in the United States on the airwaves of T-Mobile and AT&T, where it landed as Samsung Vibrant and Samsung Captivate, respectively, and should also arrive at Verizon and Sprint, as Samsung Fascinate and Samsung Epic 4G, respectively. The last device in the family is the most interesting one, as it should include both a sliding QWERTY keyboard (something that the other three models don't have) as well a 4G connectivity. Samsung Epic 4G would become this way the second WiMAX-capable smartphone Sprint launches on its airwaves.
