Samsung Galaxy S, the most popular Android-based mobile phone South Korean handset vendor Samsung brought to the market during the ongoing year, is expected to taste the latest flavor of Google's Android operating system sometimes in late September. The handset was announced as being ready for the update to Android 2.2 Froyo in various markets around the world sooner than that, and we've even seen a leaked ROM available for it, but it seems that Samsung UK won't have it updated until about two months from now.

The upcoming move has been “officially” announced by Samsung UK Mobile via Twitter: “We've seen a lot of Q's about the Froyo update; it's currently in development & will be released for all networks at the end of September...” The high-end mobile phone was released in the country a while ago, and is already available via some of the largest wireless carriers in the UK, and it seems that all of them would be deploying the solution to their users. Other Samsung Android-based devices should also taste the solution at that time.

A nice range of improvements is to be expected from the new software solution. One of the main features of Android 2.2 Froyo is the native support for Adobe's Flash Player 10.1 that it comes with, something that should offer mobile phone users the possibility to enjoy a richer Internet browsing experience on their devices. Other features are also there, including increased performance levels, faster browsing, and more.

As stated above, the Samsung Galaxy S is already available for purchase in the UK on the airwaves of various carriers, though not all of them have it. The latest carrier to make it available on its network is 3UK, which has just listed the mobile phone on its website as available for free on monthly plans that start at £35 per month (including 500 minutes, 5,000 texts, 1GB Internet). More details on the matter can be found on the company's website here.
