Next month, Australian wireless carrier Telstra will launch a new Android-based handset on its airwaves, the HTC Sensation, the company has confirmed.

The new device will offer support for the carrier's Next G network, as well as increased performance capabilities when compared to its predecessors, and fast Internet browsing as well.

The new device packs large 4.3'' touchscreen display that hides a fast 1.2GHz application processor, complemented by 678MB of RAM.

“The phone is built around a stunning 4.3-inch qHD display that supports high-resolution video, web browsing and gaming,” Telstra explains.

“Combine this with in-built Hi-Fi audio and virtual surround sound and the HTC Sensation is set to be Australia’s ultimate multimedia smartphone.”

The specifications list of the new mobile phone includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with auto focus and dual LED flash, and support for 1080p HD video recording.

The HTC Sensation also comes with 1GB of internal memory, and with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

It also includes WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, along with the usual set of sensors, built-in GPS receiver, and more.

The new mobile phone also comes with support for a wide range of Google Mobile service, such as Search, Maps, YouTube, Google Talk, and Gmail.

“HTC Sensation will run the latest Android 2.3 operating software which provides access to more than 150,000 apps and games in Android Market,” the wireless carrier continues.

“The Sensation is constructed from premium materials including contoured glass edging, distinct metallic speaker grills and an aluminium unibody.”

The mobile phone was already rumored to arrive on the Australian market on the airwaves of Tesltra, but nothing has been confirmed on this until now.

The wireless carrier did not announce specific info on the release date of this device, nor on the price tag it might feature, but users can register for updates on the carrier's website here.
