Wireless services provider Orange UK is gearing up for the release of a new Android-based mobile phone on its airwaves, none other than the high-end HTC Sensation.

The mobile phone was unveiled to the world with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board, and it is already available for purchase in the country via Vodafone which had it exclusively for over half a month, and Three UK.

Rumors on the upcoming availability of this device at Orange already emerged into the wild but nothing was known for sure until now.

However, although it listed the mobile phone on its Coming Soon page, Orange did not offer specific info on its arrival. All that it unveiled was that the phone will be available for free on select monthly plans.

The HTC Sensation is one of the most powerful mobile phones available on the market at the moment, courtesy of its 1.2GHz application processor, complemented by 768MB or RAM.

“Awaken your senses with the HTC Sensation. The 4.3-inch S-LCD capacitive touch screen responds to the slightest contact with your fingertips thanks to the multi touch feature,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

“An 8-megapixel camera with auto focus and dual LED flash creates photos that are a visual feast - HD video recording also captures live memories in vivid detail.

“With the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system giving you access to an amazing range of apps and a 1.2 Ghz dual core processor to boot, this sensational phone could be around for some time.”

The new Android-based mobile phone comes with support for WiFi networks, as well as with Bluetooth connectivity, and with a built-in GPS receiver for supporting location-based services and applications.

The handset comes with support for various Google Mobile services as well, and for applications available for download via the Android Market.
