Today, wireless carrier Sprint announced the launch of its Sprint 4G service in additional markets around the United States, including Richmond, Va., Salt Lake City and St. Louis. The service arrived in these markets powered by Clearwire's 4G network, and should offer customers in the area access to much faster speeds when compared to the service available on 3G networks. With 4G, users would benefit from faster Internet download speeds, the possibility to enjoy live video-chats, or to easily access multimedia content.

“Customers in Richmond, Salt Lake City and St. Louis can now use the 4G capabilities of Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot, Sprint 3G/4G USB Device 250U from Sierra Wireless and Sprint 3G/4G USB Device U301 to connect to the Web for blazing fast data speeds or the recently released HTC EVO 4G, America’s first 3G/4G wireless phone. With today’s launches, Sprint 4G is now available in 36 markets across the country,” the wireless carrier announced.

According to Sprint, its service is the first in the US to benefit from the 4G technology. Moreover, users can benefit from simplicity and savings when choosing the carrier's plans over those of competitors, the company states. “Sprint continues its leadership in the 4G space by delivering to customers fast wireless speeds, a 3G/4G smartphone and unlimited data plans – everything wireless customers want and need in today’s world,” said Matt Carter, president of 4G, Sprint. “With Sprint 4G, the mobile Internet potential is virtually limitless.”

Sprint's 4G service is already accessible to users in various markets in the US, including Georgia – Atlanta, Milledgeville; Hawaii – Honolulu, Maui; Nevada – Las Vegas; North Carolina – Charlotte, Greensboro; Texas – Abilene, Amarillo, Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Killeen/Temple, Lubbock, Midland/Odessa, San Antonio, Waco, Wichita Falls; Virginia – Richmond; Washington – Bellingham, Seattle; and others more.

According to the carrier, more markets would receive 4G coverage before the end of the ongoing year, including Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Users in all these markets, and in others more, can already enjoy 4G on the first smartphone at Sprint to include support for the technology, namely the HTC EVO 4G, and they should soon benefit from the capabilities of another device, the Samsung Epic 4G.
