Offers 4G connectivity to more devices, more users

Today, leading provider of wireless broadband services Clearwire Corporation announced the launch of three new products that would offer its users the possibility to access its 4G services. The new devices, namely the CLEAR Spot 4G, CLEAR Spot 4G+, and the CLEAR 4G+ Mobile USB, are meant to offer 4G connectivity options for users of a wider range of Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, netbooks, smartphones and other devices.

“In today's on-the-go world, everyone deserves fast speeds and the usage they want at a fair price – without constantly checking their usage or worrying about their end-of-month bill,” said Dow Draper, vice president of product development for Clearwire. “These new devices offer today’s mobile user, and the millions of Wi-Fi products in use across the country, even greater access to CLEAR’s fast and affordable 4G service.”

The new CLEAR Spot 4G comes with personal Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, being able to offer 4G speeds to more than one Wi-Fi devices. The new Wi-Fi devices comes with support for 3G networks too, so that users remain connected even when outside of 4G coverage. As for the CLEAR 4G+ Mobile USB modem, it comes as the first dual-mode mobile USB from CLEAR that provides both 4G and 3G connectivity options for MacBook and MacBook Pro and other non-Mac devices.

CLEAR Spot 4G offers users the possibility to share 4G connectivity among up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and portable gaming devices. The new device has been manufactured by InfoMark and should land on the market with a price tag of $99.99, or for a $4.99 monthly lease. It should reach CLEAR stores and authorized dealers in July, yet users can already pre-order it starting today from the carrier's website here.

CLEAR Spot 4G+ comes with support both for Clearwire's 4G service and for Sprint’s 3G nationwide network. Through it, users can share the connection with a number of up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices simultaneously. The device is set to hit CLEAR stores and authorized dealers in July, featuring a price tag of $224.99 (or to lease for $5.99 per month). It has been made available for pre-order too.

CLEAR 4G+ Mobile USB (Series S) has been added to Clearwire's offering that already includes two 4G-only USB modems for Mac users. Unlike the previous devices, the new one comes with dual-mode 4G/3G connectivity and can be used with MacBook and MacBook Pro laptops using Mac OS X Versions 10.5.x and 10.6.x, as well as with netbooks and notebooks running Windows XP SP2, Vista and Windows 7. Coming from Sierra Wireless, the new device can be purchased for $114.99 or leased monthly for $5.99 from the carrier's website or from its stores in Atlanta, Dallas, Hawaii and Harrisburg, Lancaster, Reading and York, PA. More markets will receive it starting with July 1.
