Clearwire Communications, LLC, an operating subsidiary of Clearwire Corporation, has just announced the launch of its CLEAR super fast mobile Internet service in Houston, and named John Smith as general manager for the new market. The company's CLEAR service enables users to access the Internet on a wireless network while enjoying speeds on par with those delivered by broadband networks.

According to Clearwire, the service is now available for customers and businesses in Houston located from Conroe in the north and Kingwood in the northeast, all the way to Alvin in the south and Clear Lake in the southeast. Moreover, the coverage extends in the west to Katy and in the southwest to Richmond / Rosenburg, while in the east it goes all the way to Baytown. Additionally, the company said that the service would also cover Lake Jackson.

CLEAR is thrilled to bring to Houston residents, businesses and visitors an Internet experience similar to what they’re used to having at home or the office, anywhere around town or on the go,” said John Smith, Clearwire general manager, Houston. “We're pleased to complete our Texas service launch with a valuable new category of Internet service designed to make people’s lives more enjoyable and more productive.”

As most of you might already know, the experience that CLEAR can offer is similar to the one offered by Wi-Fi, only that there are no short range limitations as with the latter. The wireless 4G technology used by CLEAR is WiMAX, and the service can offer download speeds that top 3 to 6 Mbps on average, and which can peak over 10 Mbps. Various plans and devices are available for those interested in the enhanced connectivity options, all detailed on the company's website.

The 4G service can prove a great option for various customers, including: - A mobile professional no longer needs to seek out Wi-Fi hotspots or be constrained by the speeds and limitations of 3G modem cards; - A college student or retiree can now have affordable Internet service to meet their needs at home, on campus and on-the-go; - A commuter can now work or access entertainment sites like Hulu or Pandora on the way to and from home; - A busy parent can now have full Internet connectivity for kids studying or playing games in the back of the family minivan.
