South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has made yet another step on the Android development road, materialized in the release of Samsung ‘Galaxy Spica’ (I5700), its fourth device sporting Google's operating system. Although the device has been rumored for a long time now and has been also launched in some markets around the world, it seems that the official global release has been made only today.

According to the handset vendor, the new Samsung Galaxy Spica comes to the market with powerful Android features and can deliver seamless connectivity, smooth access to Google mobile services, as well as great connectivity to popular social networking sites, including Facebook and MySpace. Moreover, the new mobile phone sports an 800 MHZ application processor, which enables it to offer great performance levels, not to mention support for a wide range of applications, which can be downloaded from the Android Market.

Samsung has made a great effort to strengthen our smartphone line up with a wide range of innovative products for every user,” said JK Shin, executive vice president and head of the Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics. “The Samsung Galaxy Spica, powered by Android, is the perfect fit for users who want to enjoy a powerful and fast mobile experience,” he added.

The new Samsung Galaxy Spica features great multimedia capabilities and its specs list shows DivX support, something that it available for the first time on an Android-based mobile phone. It also sports DNSe 2.0 for better sound quality, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack, not to mention a 1500mAh battery that can deliver enough usage time for applications and multimedia. At the same time, we should mention that the new phone comes with a slim design as well, being only 13.2 mm thick.

According to Samsung, the new device will enable users enjoy a variety of Google services, including Google Search, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube, and Google Talk. In addition, the mobile phone maker has announced that the Samsung Galaxy Spica is now available for purchase in Europe and CIS and is expected to soon come to the MEA region.
