Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia today announced some new stats regarding the services it currently offers to its users, unveiling that the Ovi Store applications portal has reached a number of 2.3 million downloads per day.

Moreover, the company enjoys a number of more that 140 million users all around the world, not to mention that more are joining its Ovi services, at a rate of 200.000 people daily.

Already made available for users in 190 countries, the Ovi services include Maps, Music, Messaging, and Store, as well as Life Tools, though this service is available only in select markets.

“The growing popularity of the Ovi experience has also led to 70 developers and publishers each surpassing the million download mark for their content in the Ovi Store,” the handset vendor announced.

Among the developers and publishers that already delivered their apps in the storefront, we can count Digital Chocolate, Electronic Arts, Gameloft, Indiagames, PepsiCo, Qik, Shazam, HeroCraft and Offscreen Technologies.

Nokia also unveiled the fact that HeroCraft already reached 10 million downloads in the Ovi Store, while Offscreen, which has a series of touchscreen apps, enjoyed more than 45 million.

“At Nokia, we believe that connecting people with great mobile experiences is at the heart of what Ovi is all about. Today people discover Ovi through Maps, Music, Messaging, Store and Life Tools,” said Tero Ojanperä, executive vice president, Services, Nokia.

“With a new generation of amazing devices, like the Nokia N8, developers are looking at Ovi as a good business decision and a chance to innovate and create next-generation mobile experiences for our family of new Symbian smartphones.”

Other milestones the leading mobile phone maker reported on include an updated Ovi Store experience, new development tools for app builders, or a series of enhancements brought to the Nokia Qt Software Development Kit (SDK).

According to Nokia, Ovi Life Tools already passed the 4.7 million subscribers mark in China, India and Indonesia, while Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat have surpassed 17 million accounts.

The reach of Ovi Maps has been expanded around the world, now offering walk and drive navigation in 78 countries and 46 languages.

At the same time, the company announced that Ovi Music is now available in 38 countries around the world, and that it offers around 11 million tracks in the global catalogue.

“Ovi is designed to be the perfect complement to a Nokia device. It connects the real world with what is relevant in the digital world - resulting in an enriched mobile lifestyle,” the mobile phone maker announced.

Moreover, it notes that Ovi offers “easy access to popular apps and games, the world's best maps, millions of locally relevant music choices, great messaging capabilities, and information tools for everyday life in emerging markets.”
