A new Qt SDK is now available for download, capable of enabling a faster and smoother user experience, while including the Qt 4.7 and Qt Creator 2.0.1.

The solution offers developers the possibility to easily create applications for various platforms, including mobile phones that run under the Symbian and MeeGo operating systems.

The Qt SDK packs inside all the necessary tools for developers to come up with cross-platform applications with Qt.

“The Qt SDK – now updated with Qt 4.7 and Qt Creator 2.0.1 – provides everything you need to create desktop, mobile and embedded applications and UIs,” the development team notes.

Some of the enhancements included in the new release would be: - New hardware accelerated compositing in QtWebkit has accelerated QtWebkit animation rendering by 31% over Qt 4.6.0, resulting in “snappier” user interfaces - In benchmark tests of popular websites, Facebook pages scrolled up to 67% faster, and other, less complicated pages scrolled on average 350% faster* due to significant scrolling speed improvements in QtWebkit - The new QStaticText class makes text render more than twice as fast as in Qt 4.6 - The QPainter engine makes it possible to draw particle systems more efficiently in OpenGL

The release of Qt 4.7 follow the availability of a new Nokia Qt SDK, announced officially last week during the Nokia World 2010 event in London.

The new solution comes with QML and Qt Declarative, which are the first building blocks in the forthcoming Qt Quick, Daniel Kihlberg notes in a recent post on the Qt blog.

“Now Qt 4.7 is ready for anyone to use! The next milestone will be to get Qt Quick ready,” the blog post reads.

“Then, in 2011, we aim to have Qt developed in a full Open Governance mode, with even more developers outside Nokia actively taking ownership of the future of Qt by contributing and benefitting from the latest improvements in Qt,” Kihlberg continues.

The new QT SDK is available for download for Windows, Linux and Mac OS machines.

In case there are some who do not want to download the entire package, they will find source packages of the Qt framework only available for download on qt.nokia here, including Qt libraries 4.7.0 for Symbian or for Maemo.
