Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia promised the first shipments of its Symbian^3 based Nokia N8 handset by the end of the third quarter of the ongoing year, but it seems that US users will have to wait a little longer than that to get their first N8 units.

Although the company did manage to ship the N8 starting today, only few end-users received their devices until now, and chances are that not too many of them would get their units in the following days.

Moreover, those Nokia fans living in the United States would have to wait for about a month or so before they can put their hands on the first Nokia N8 units.

The company's US online store, which previously listed Nokia N8 as being expected to ship by the end of September, now says that the handset will arrive by the end of October, which is one monthslater.

Further confirmation on this comes from a recent article over at InformationWeek, which claims that a Nokia Store representative said that the Nokia N8 won't ship for at least four weeks from now.

Recently, a series of rumors emerged into the wild, suggesting that the launch of N8 would be delayed, and that Nokia itself was the one to unveil this state of facts.

“To ensure a great user experience, we have decided to hold the shipments for a few weeks to do some final amends. […] We expect consumers to get their Nokia N8s during October,” the company was quoted at that time stating.

However, Nokia stepped up soon after that and said that there will be no delays, and that the Nokia N8 would ship as planned, at the end of September.

Today, the leading mobile phone maker announced in a press release that the first Nokia N8 units are already shipping, and that those who pre-order it should receive it soon.

“Customers who have placed a pre-order for the Nokia N8 in Nokia Online Shops and Nokia retail stores will be the first to receive their Nokia N8. Market availability will vary by country and by operator, with broad availability in the coming weeks,” Nokia stated.

For what it's worth, it seems that, although N8 shipments left factories, users in some markets will still have to wait a little longer before the device lands in their hands, even if Nokia did not offer too many details on this.
