Nokia reaffirms commitment to provide innovative handsets and solutions to its users

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced today at the Nokia Connection event held in Singapore that it remained committed to offering compelling devices to its customers so that they would be able to benefit from the power of Internet and from the mobility that their devices deliver. The company also unveiled new products at the manifestation, namely the Nokia E72, the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic and the Nokia 3710 fold, which enable users to personalize their mobile experience in new and better ways.

“Nokia envisions a world where people will be empowered to share and connect with what matters most to them through highly personalised and contextually relevant solutions. To this end, Nokia is driving this transformation both as a company and externally to build a vibrant ecosystem and deliver relevant and delightful solutions to consumers,” stated Mary McDowell, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Nokia.

While the new handsets that the company unveiled today had already been reported on, we should say a few words on the other areas of interest that Nokia talked about, including the newly launched Ovi Store. According to the manufacturer, the portal is meant to provide users with access to a wide range of applications and content from third-party developers and content providers so as to enhance the users' experience to new heights.

The mobile phone maker stated that it worked closely with a number of more than 4 million developers worldwide so as to be able to offer innovative applications to Nokia devices through the Ovi Store. Some of the developers, such as Gambit, Singapore Press Holdings, or tenCube, were also present at the Nokia Connection event and showcased the apps that they had developed for Nokia and Ovi Store.

As many of you might already know, Ovi Store enables developers and content providers to distribute their apps and media to millions of Nokia mobile phone users around the world, including software solutions, games, videos, and many more. At the same time, the Ovi Store is supported on more than 75 Nokia handsets, while the Nokia N97, the latest flagship device from the company, is the first one to come to the market with Ovi Store pre-loaded.
