The final version coming in May

Nokia Beta Labs announced on Thursday that a new version of the Nokia Messaging client would arrive, this time available for S60 5.0 devices. The application only comes to display now as a pre-release version, yet it is great to hear that its developers are working on offering users more reasons to rejoice.

According to the team, the Nokia Messaging for S60 5.0 devices will become available in full in May, and the owners of a Nokia 5800 XpressMuzic will then be able to take full advantage of its capabilities, while this pre-release has been unleashed into the wild to allow users to take a look at it and provide feedback for what might be missing or go wrong.

What the new client for Nokia 5800 XM can offer is probably already known. There will be popular features like Push email delivery, IMAP subfolders and mobilizing up to ten mailboxes including Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! and Gmail, yet the S60 5.0 client will also include a series of features specifically designed for it.

Among those features we can count easier program navigation with support for ‘tap & hold’ contextual functionality, a completely fingertip-operated client, eliminating the need of a stylus, not to mention the fact that the application works both in portrait and landscape modes, includes message previews in the inbox view and also displays address book contact photos in messages.

Given the fact that this Nokia Messaging for S60 5.0 devices is only a pre-release client, those willing to try it out should pay a great deal of attention to the installation instructions. Another thing that is worth mentioning is the fact that there will not be changes between this version and the final release that will come in May, yet the team wants to get feedback from users so as to start preparing the next version of the S60 5.0 client. Those who would like to download and comment on the app should go to the Nokia Beta Labs website.
