Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia announced today a collaboration with Thailand-based carrier AIS to deliver the Nokia Messaging push-email service in the country. AIS is the first operator in the country to offer Nokia's push-email service that delivers users the possibility to mobilize a number of consumer email solutions, including Ovi Mail, Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail, while also providing support for local email service providers.

“Services like Nokia Messaging contribute to easier mobile living for our customers, and we're happy to be the first to deliver this service in Thailand. We believe our customers will find this service appealing, both in terms of user-friendliness and price,” says Mr. Somchai Lertsutthiwong, executive vice president, Marketing, AIS.

The Nokia Messaging service is both easy to set up and easy to use, while supporting a number of ten email accounts to be mobilized on a handset at the same time. Users will have the possibility to read, send, smart forward and reply to emails, as well as to download, read and attach files straight from their mobile phones. The service has also been designed to deliver emails on the handsets as soon as they are received on the server.

Along with the launch of Nokia Messaging in the country, AIS also announced the addition of two new data packages to its offering. Users can now opt for a 'Nokia Messaging Bt 199' plan that enables AIS subscribers to enjoy the Nokia service to up to 5MB per month for a Bt 199 monthly fee, or for a Nokia Messaging Bt 399 Unlimited that provides unlimited usage of the service.

“Nokia wants to make mobile email available for as many people as possible, and the agreement with AIS is an important milestone. With Nokia Messaging, we meet people's need for access to email whenever they want and wherever they want it,” Shumit Kapoor, general manager, Nokia (Thailand) Ltd., commented.

In addition to the new Nokia Messaging service and the new data plans available from AIS, users in the country will also have the opportunity to enjoy two new devices, the Nokia E52 and Nokia E63, both of which come with support for the push-email service. More than 20 Nokia phones feature support for Nokia Messaging, including the newly launched Nokia N97, or the Nokia E71 and Nokia N95, the Finnish company added.
