Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has announced recently that its Nokia Messaging service will now include Windows Live Hotmail, one of the most popular web-based email solutions around the world. The service, which allows users to access their email from their Nokia handsets, will also be supported by the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, starting with May. The company's first mass-market touchscreen device has gotten in line with the rest of the handsets available for purchase that support the service.

The Nokia Messaging can be downloaded and set up for free, offering support for popular email accounts like Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail or AOL Mail, as well as for accounts from other email providers. Users are allowed to access up to 10 personal email accounts from their Nokia mobile phone, while also being able to add the accounts to the service as soon as it has been set up on their devices, both via the phone and via the Nokia Messaging website.

As soon as the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic receives support for Nokia Messaging, the service will be available on a number of 20 different device models all around the world, among which we can count the Nokia E75, which comes preloaded with Nokia Messaging, as well as Nokia E71, Nokia E63, Nokia E66 and Nokia N79. The company also announced that a wide range of other handsets, such as the Nokia E55, Nokia N97 and Nokia N86 8MP, would be added support for Nokia Messaging.

Atif Hussein, vice president, Products, Nokia Messaging, stated that the addition of the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic to the list of devices that supported Nokia Messaging was proof of the company's commitment to offer the service to all users around the world, regardless of the type of device they used, “touch, qwerty or monoblock.”

“We've come to understand that a key barrier for mass email adoption is not the lack of features, but the usability. Nokia Messaging was designed for ease of use and mobility. While offering people a full feature set, Nokia Messaging still minimizes user actions and simplifies the complex, such as eliminating the need to know technical information. This reduces confusion and the amount of time taken to set up and start using the service on the phone. By prioritizing common actions and needs, we bring the most relevant and frequently used actions upfront,” Hussein also added.
