Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia and America Movil announced on Tuesday a partnership meant to deliver a leading messaging solution to mobile phone users in Latin America through a variety of handsets. The new deal adds to the already existing music and maps offerings that the two companies already deliver in the area.

The Nokia Messaging solution will come to America Movil's subscribers via a series of mobile phones before the end of the ongoing year. In addition, the duo also announced that the messaging solution would be offered in seven countries in the area. Through the new collaboration, America Movil becomes the first wireless carrier to offer Nokia Messaging to mobile phone customers in Latin America.

“Messaging is ready for exponential growth in Latin America. As the leading operator in Latin America, we will be leading in this space,” said Marco Quatorze, head of Value Added Services, America Movil. Blanca Juti, Nokia vice president for the America Movil Account, added, “This collaboration is a good example of how Nokia is extending its vision of 'Connecting People'. Together with America Movil, Nokia Messaging will deliver on the promise of mobile messaging for everyone in the region.”

Nokia Messaging will offer America Movil customers the possibility to mobilize multiple email accounts in a single application. The solution can be easily set up and offers support for up to 10 personal email accounts at the same time. The new offering will also deliver real-time messaging to users, and, among other things, it will enable them to read, send, forward and reply to emails.

The duo also announced that Nokia Messaging would first be launched in five countries on Nokia E63, Nokia E71 Black, Nokia E72 and Nokia E75, as soon as this summer. According to the companies, these handsets will come with the license for Nokia Messaging, which will also sport attractive data plans from the carrier.
