LG Electronics announced recently that it was set to make an appearance on the floor of the International 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to demonstrate some of its latest devices that sported LTE connectivity. At the same time, the company also revealed that it would be showcasing download speeds at 100Mbps over LTE, a technology that is expected to prove being the next-generation standard in mobile communication.

One of the devices brought by LG at the show is “LD 100U”, a dongle LTE data card, which is being used for the demonstration of real-time streaming of HD video files, video conferencing, and web-surfing at speeds that top 100Mbps on the downlink and 50Mbps on the uplink. To put it more simple, the technology offers users the possibility to download an entire movie on their handset in about a minute.

At the same time, LG is also set to showcase publicly the “Handover” technology, meant to enable conversations between LTE and CDMA networks. The company came up with a device for the Handover back in August, the M13, yet it plans on showcasing the technology on an even slimmer device, called VD13.

“For many years, LG Electronics has pioneered the advancement of LTE technology, the main artery of 4G mobile communications,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, “We will continue to introduce more LTE devices in line with LTE commercialization efforts that will go into effect this year.”

Additionally, LG and Verizon Wireless stated that they were working together on demonstrating the capabilities and applications that can be delivered by the LTE network. The Verizon Wireless Innovation Center, which is focused on helping companies deliver applications, products and services for LTE, will demonstrate at CES 2010 a series of applications at which LG Mobile Phones is a key participant, the company mentioned.
