Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has already unveiled plans to deploy an LTE network during the ongoing year, and now the company is present at the International 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas with new details on its plans. Big Red unveiled at the show new solutions based on 4G technology that are meant to offer consumers 4G home control services, via a collaboration with various partners, including Ionics EMS Inc., 4Home, Marvell, Sercomm and LG Electronics. At the same time, LTE ecosystem is being expanded via Samsung's LTE Media Frame, and other products.

The Home Monitoring and Control Solution that is being demonstrated at CES by Verizon and its partners is comprised of wireless LTE (Long Term Evolution)-enabled products aimed at delivering home security monitoring. Energy management and home appliance monitoring, home health and media management are other services that will be showcased at the event, Verizon announced. The new services, based on the upcoming 4G LTE mobile broadband network, are meant to offer users better ways to manage the aforementioned aspects.

“We are delighted to be working with Verizon Wireless in this project. We believe the plug computer is the next big thing in the world of computing, with a myriad of applications for a wide variety of users”, said Larry Qua, Ionics EMS, Inc.’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. Brian Higgins, executive director, LTE Ecosystem Development at Verizon Wireless, said “Verizon Wireless’ work with 4Home is a great example of the collaborative approach we are taking to help develop market-leading applications for our planned 4G LTE network. Connected home services are an ideal application for a 4G LTE network, and 4Home’s platform software provides a compelling framework to display the power of 4G LTE.”

As for the Samsung’s LTE Media Frame, it comes as an example of how consumer electronic devices like MIDs, digital cameras, online galleries, can be included in the LTE ecosystem. The LTE Media frame sports a 10-inch high-resolution touchscreen display, multimedia (music, photo, video) capabilities and a slim design. The digital camera from Samsung can record HD 720p videos which are then sent to the picture frame or to online social networking sites over the LTE network. Moreover, the media frame also enables real-time wireless streaming from a mobile device, Samsung notes.
