Verizon Wireless, the largest carrier in the United States, announced on Tuesday the launch of V CAST Mobile TV in Louisville area, offering mobile phone users in the region the possibility to enjoy high-quality television on their mobile phones. According to the company, the V CAST Mobile TV service includes great broadcast and cable television programming, and also offers other mobile television content from some of the best-known entertainment brands.

Customers in and around Louisville have now the possibility to enjoy V CAST Mobile TV on their Verizon Wireless devices, which will deliver to them live sporting events and breaking news, as well as over 25 primetime shows and kids’ programming. The service comes with programming for all ages, and also sports parental control features, the carrier notes.

“Our customers in and around Louisville now have access to a wide range of mobile entertainment options in the palms of their hands,” said Greg Haller, president–Kentucky/Indiana/Michigan Region, Verizon Wireless. “It’s like watching TV at home with a range of channels offering great shows, news and sporting events from which to choose.”

V CAST Mobile TV from Verizon Wireless comes towards users courtesy of the FLO TV live mobile TV service from FLO TV Incorporated, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. According to Verizon, the service comes over the company's own dedicated mobile network, meaning that the carrier's airwaves won't be impacted by the availability of this service.

The V CAST Mobile TV is available for Verizon's users on a wide range of handsets, including the Windows Mobile 6.5-based HTC Imagio, the first smartphone from the carrier to include the feature. Other handsets would be the Motorola Krave ZN4, Motorola MOTORIZR Z6tv, LG VX9400, LG Voyager VX10000, LG Voyager VX10000 Titanium and Samsung SCH-u620.

The programming that users can enjoy with V CAST Mobile TV include ABC Mobile, CBS, CBS College Sports, CBS News, CNBC, Comedy Central, Disney Channel, ESPN, FOX Mobile, FOX News Channel, MSNBC, MTV, MTV Tr3s, NBC, NBC 2Go, NBC News, NBC Sports, Nickelodeon, NickToons and TLC (The Learning Channel).
