Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless has announced a new expansion of its 3G network, this time around in Crawford County, Pennsylvania, made through the activation of a new cell site in the area. According to the company, the new enhancement is meant to offer residents in Crawford County the possibility to enjoy better services on their mobile phones, including making calls, sending and receiving e-mail and text, [admark=1]picture and video messages, accessing the Internet, downloading music, games and ringtones, as well as viewing high quality videos.

“We’ve always believed even the most advanced device is only as good as the network it runs on. We continue to aggressively invest in our Pennsylvania network to increase coverage and capacity for our customers, add new services, and maintain our 3G network leadership,” said Roger Tang, president–Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. The new cell site, the carrier notes, is meant to enhance connectivity “along State Route 18 from Harmonsburg south to Conneaut Lake Road, along Highway 285 from Conneaut Lake Road south to Townline Road, and along Conneaut Lake Road east from Grieser Road to North Watson Run Road.”

As many of you might already know, the wireless carrier has been working hard on enhancing and expanding its 3G coverage around the United States. Verizon is currently the largest mobile phone operator in the country, and it seems that it intends to do all possible to remain so. According to the company, it has made a great deal of investments in its nationwide 3G network, as well as in enhancing the Pennsylvania network. The investments it made in its network in the area rise to almost $195 million in 2009 alone, Verizon notes, adding that it has invested more than $50 billion in its entire network since it has been deployed. The carrier has a number of around 89 million customers at the moment, and says that it “operates the nation’s most reliable and largest wireless voice and 3G data network.”
