Kimberly Stewart and Benicio del Toro are first-time proud parents. Kimberly, who is the daughter of the iconic singer Rod Stewart, gave birth to a baby girl over the weekend, reports in the US press indicate.

The two are no longer a couple – and weren’t even when they confirmed the pregnancy through a joint statement.

However, it is believed del Toro has already assumed an active role in the life of his child, being described by his rep as a “supportive father.”

Us Magazine confirms that Kimberly gave birth but can’t say whether Benicio was also present at the hospital, where her entire family was gathered, to welcome his daughter into the world.

“It’s a girl! Kimberly Stewart gave birth to a baby girl Sunday in LA. This is the first child for the 31-year-old actress, model and daughter of legendary rocker Rod Stewart,” Us Magazine reports.

“A source tells Us that Rod, 66, and his current wife Penny Lancaster-Stewart were at the hospital during Kimberly’s delivery. Alana Collins, who is Kimberly’s mother and Rod’s first wife, was also present,” the magazine further says.

Confirmation from Kimberly is still pending.

“The baby – who has yet to be named – was 22 inches long and weighed 8 lbs 9 oz,” Us writes.

Following the pregnancy announcement, several reports indicated that, despite the spokesperson’s attempt to make it sound like Benicio and Kimberly were on good terms and in understanding about the baby, things were far from rosy between them.

For starters, Kim’s father Rod was fuming mad that they would have a one night stand without protection, but he still decided to stand by his daughter and help her through it.

Secondly, Benicio too was upset that Kim had decided to keep the baby, word had it, because he considered the pregnancy an unwanted complication in his life, especially since he never planned on being with Kim more than the night they spent together.
