14 DAY TRIAL // In what must be one of the most unexpected press releases ever to come out in showbiz, a rep for Benicio del Toro confirms that the actor and Kimberly Stewart, socialite and daughter of singer Rod Stewart, are expecting a child together.
The confirmation comes right out of the blue: any gossip lover must know that these things first make headlines as rumors and reports, and are confirmed afterwards by the stars’ reps.
This didn’t happen here. Moreover, no one seemed to have any idea that the two were dating at some point, let alone that they would be having a child together.
Yet it’s happening.
“Life & Style can confirm exclusively that Kimberly Stewart, the daughter of rocker Rod Stewart, is pregnant with actor Benicio del Toro’s baby, a rep for Benicio confirms,” the celebrity magazine writes.
The rep doesn’t go into particulars about the unexpected relationship, but she does seem to hint that it was more of a short-lived affair, since the two are not together right now.
“Kimberly is pregnant. Benicio is the father and is very supportive,” Robin Baum says for Life & Style.
“Although they are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby,” the rep adds. This part of the statement is being interpreted on celebrity blogs and e-zines as indication that the pregnancy is probably the result of a one night stand.
Before becoming the mother of Benicio’s baby, Kimberly was engaged to Talan Torriero of the “Laguna Beach” fame, and then romantically linked to Jude Law and Rhys Ifans, after the latter and Sienna Miller broke up.
She’s also garnered plenty of media attention for a botched breast augmentation and her wild, partying lifestyle.
Benicio, for much credit as he gets for his acting, somehow manages to live his life outside the spotlight, which means that tidbits about it rarely, if ever, make it into the pages of the tabloids.
