Ke$ha says she couldn’t imagine her makeup without lots and lots of glitter

She’s admitted in past interviews she wears placenta around her neck for good luck and is a fan of DIY tattoos. In a recent interview on her unique style and look, Ke$ha reveals her only makeup rule: there are absolutely no rules.

The hitmaker simply loves glitter – and anyone who’s seen at least a video of her, let alone catch her in concert, must already know this.

In fact, Ke$ha says in a recent interview cited by InStyle magazine, this is the only constant about the way she applies her makeup: she must have plenty of it, and the same goes for her band members and the dancers.

Other than that, the sky is the limit, as the saying goes.

“I like to play with face paint and body paint in a sort of tribal, very animal, very rock way,” Ke$ha says. The result is a unique, bold look that few other pop stars but her couple pull off.

“I don’t think there are any rules when it comes to makeup,” the singer says. Neither are there to styling in general – so she looks for inspiration in the unlikeliest of places.

For instance, she admits, she and her stylists make headdresses and hair clips from fur and feathers picked up on the side of the highway. That’s one way of staying original.

As noted above, the only constant about Ke$ha’s style is her love for glitter – she simply couldn’t live without it.

“I’m attracted to shiny things, like a raccoon! I use a gallon of glitter every show – on my body, the band and dancers,” the pop star reveals. “Glitter was always just my makeup of choice,” she adds.

Ke$ha is not the only artist to be inexplicably attracted to glitter: her friend (and crush) and fellow musician Adam Lambert also uses plenty of it when he applies makeup, in what he likes to call a staple of his image.
