Singer opens up to Paper Magazine about her everyday life

Ke$ha is, according to many, among the most annoying pop stars of the moment: not really because she’s not worth the attention she’s getting but because she always seems like she’s trying too hard. Those who see her that way will probably be happy to learn that, in the latest issue of Paper Magazine, the “TiK ToK” hitmaker comes across as a very normal, albeit somewhat wild, young woman.

For starters, Ke$ha talks of her much-mediated love for Jack Daniels and how whiskey is not necessarily her number one drink of choice, since she also likes red wine. In fact, her favorite pastime is probably hanging out at her home listening to vinyl records and sipping on a glass of red wine. Then again, she’s not at home that much, so that only leaves the Jack, she adds with a smile. Another thing that Ke$ha is positively crazy about is do-it-yourself tattoos.

Though many would argue that getting ink this way is more suitable in a “confined” place (read: jail) and far from safe, Ke$ha says she’s a master at giving such tattoos – and loves them on herself too. “A friend of mine told me you can [create a tattoo] with pen ink and a safety pin and I was like ‘That’s amazing. I could give tattoos at anywhere in the world at any hotel.’ I saw this hot dude recently and I gave him a tattoo sitting in the lobby of the hotel. I was just like ‘Can I borrow a pen and a sewing kit?’ I think I got an admirer out of that one,” the singer says.

In the same interview, the star also reveals that transvestites inspire her to be a better woman, while she would never rule out the possibility of coming out with some country tunes. “I’m really inspired by country music – my mom wrote country music – and I love Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash. I think at some point there might be some country collaborations or records in the future. But I’m also really digging being called, like half jokingly, a white girl rapper. I think it’s really funny and I’m going to ride that train for a little bit,” Ke$ha says.

The controversial pop star reveals her best pick-up line that she uses in bars. For the full interview, pick up the latest issue of Paper Magazine, now on newsstands, or see here for more excerpts.
