Except for those with Google's logo

Mobile phone maker HTC Corporation recently released into the wild a brand new user interface, designed for its Android-based HTC Hero, the third mobile phone the company brings under Google's operating system. Since the new UI looks more than appealing, those who already own an HTC Android-powered phone have already started to wonder whether the interface will come to their devices as well.

As soon as these questions popped up to the Web, a series of rumors on what the company will do also surfaced, yet HTC came with an answer soon afterwards, though not a quite clear one. Existing Android phones will get the new UI as long as they do not bear the “with Google“ logo on them. To put this in other words, G1 users will not have access to the UI, and some of those owning an HTC Magic will be left outside as well.

The tricky part, however, is that the mobile phone maker is rather uncertain whether it will indeed manage to bring Sense to the older phones. It seems that the company is trying to figure out a way to make the interface available on those devices too, yet nothing can be said with certainty at the moment. Hopefully, the owners of an HTC Dream or Magic, at least those who have a handset without the Google logo, will be able to enjoy the new UI.

At the same time, it seems that users of an HTC Windows Mobile-based mobile phone won't miss the Sense UI party. “The Hero UI has been created specifically for HTC’s Android-based phones but also represents that three core pillars of HTC Sense. HTC’s future Windows Mobile phones will also be based on HTC Sense, but will enhance Windows Mobile in a way that is as appropriate and valuable to people,” is what HTC had to say when asked about Sense and WM.

One of the most interesting things that have surfaced during the past few days when it comes to HTC, Sense, Hero, Android phones and Windows Mobile is that Hero's UI seems to have no specific name, although most people called it Sense right away. As one can easily see from the company's words, Sense is something more than Hero's UI, and it includes both the new Android interface and the TouchFLO 3D UI available with the company's WinMo handsets.
